"Die Pfarre Pfaffenhofen zählt derzeit 932 Katholiken. Bei einer Einwohnerzahl von 1163 sind dies 80,13 Prozent der Bevölkerung (Stand: Februar 2002). Nicht die Größe, sondern die Geschichte verlieh Pfaffenhofen seine Bedeutung unter den Pfarren der Diözese Innsbruck.

Ausgrabungen im Jahre 1961 und 1997 brachten den Nachweis, dass in Pfaffenhofen schon im fünften Jahrhundert eine frühchristliche Kirche stand. Die Funde unterhalb des jetzigen Presbyteriums lassen sogar auf einen vorübergehenden Bischofssitz (Wanderbischof) vor dem Jahr 500 schließen. Pfaffenhofen zählt zu den ältesten Pfarren der ehemaligen Diözese Brixen, die auch urkundlich genannt sind.

Die Pfaffenhofer Pfarrkirche ist dem Patrozinium "Mariä Himmelfahrt" geweiht (Weiheurkunde aus dem Jahr 1410). In den vergangenen Jahren wurde die Kirche außen und innen restauriert. " - Quelle: (visit link)
