This station is located on the southern outskirts of the Laos town of Luang Prabang. It is widely, but unofficially referred to as the 'Southern bus station', due to the fact that buses heading southwards depart from here.
In design the station is simple enough. An 'A' shaped open enclosure, with a ticket counter at one end and a seated waiting area occupying the rest of the space. Buses park in bus bays around this structure. There is food and drink on sale from street vendors. From here buses depart to the national capital, Vientiane (5-6 hours away), and to the southern half of Laos (an overnight journey away). Also to the small towns and villages in the region. The roads are not the best so hold on tight.
