These two anchors flank the entrance to the back of the chapel of the US Naval Academy. A plaque on the base of the anchor on the right reads:


These anchors known as
"old fashioned" anchors were made
for our Navy's first armored
cruiser "New York" the flagship of
Read Admiral William T. Sampson
during the Spanish-American War
and weigh approximately 10,500 lbs.
