This marker is dedicated to the
125th Illinois Volunteer Infantry and is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. The 125th Illinois Infantry was organized at Danville, Illinois and mustered in to Federal service on September 3, 1862.
It marks their location on Friday on Saturday, September 19, 1863. The commander of the 125th Illinois was Colonel Oscar F. Harmon.

7'6" x 4'4" x 4'6" rock-faced monument consisting of rectangular granite block with an inscribed polished front on granite base. The tops of both pieces are beveled. Marks unit's position during Battle of Chickamauga
