OX0218 / OX0650 - USGS 6208.082 / NGS VIC - Victor, Idaho - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Main St (Hwy. 33) and Center St (Hwy. 31) in Victor, Idaho. The cap is located at the northeast corner of the Victor Valley Grocery Store. The cap is badly damaged and nearly unreadable. The cap is attached to a pipe set in a crumbling square concrete post. The cap was set by the U.S. Geological Survey prior to 1934 (similar style USGS BMs, I’ve seen were set about 1905). The benchmark was designated 6208.082 with a PID of OX0219. In 1941, it was redesignated VIC with a PID of OX0650.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1934 IN VICTOR. AT VICTOR, TETON COUNTY, ON STATE HIGHWAY 33, 90.2 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE INTERSECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 31, 1.5 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE C.M. HATCH AND CO. STORE, 62.6 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF STATE HIGHWAY 33, AND 58.9 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF STATE HIGHWAY 31. A UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY STANDARD CAP, RIVETED ON THE TOP OF A 3-1/2 INCH IRON PIPE. NOTE-- IT WAS REPORTED IN JUNE 1934 THAT THE STAMPING IS UNRECOGNIZABLE.
