This monument is dedicated to the
100th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. The 100th Illinois Infantry was organized at Joliet, Illinois and mustered into Federal service on August 30, 1862.
This monument indicates their position from Saturday 19th at 4 p.m. until Sunday, September 20, 1863, 4 a.m. Their commander, Colonel Frederick A. Bartleson, was wounded on Sunday, Sept 20, 1863.

Short Physical Description
7'6" x 4'4" x 4'6" high rock-faced monument consisting of rectangular granite block with an inscribed polished front on granite base. The tops of both pieces are beveled. Marks unit's position from 9/19/1863, 4:00 p.m. to 9/20/1863, 4:00 a.m.
