In the front yard of the Incarnate Word University campus, just off an entrance road coming from Broadway onto the campus, is a solitary statuary that marks the Jubilee year (50 years) of the university. The present IWU is one of the many outgrowths of the original mission that brought the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word to San Antonio in 1869. The statue is a grey marble base upon which is mounted a white marble sculpture of a standing St. Christopher with beard, in long robes and sandals, holding an infant in his right arm and a lily in his right hand. The infant is holding a cross with both his hands. On the back base of the marble sculpture the following signature and informational markings of the contractor that was used by the artist:
"Daparto Statuary C:-Chicago
New York Pietrasanta Itale"

On the front of the grey granite base is inscribed the dates of the origination of the school and the 50 year anniversary year date:
"1869-1919"

The Jubilee Memorial has little on it or around it to indicate it is is a commemorative statue. It looks much like a large, out of place tombstone. It is placed in front of the Mother House that is near the chapel on the campus.
Incarnate Work University is located at 4301 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209.
