The original 1836 brick courthouse for Warren County, Virginia was rebuilt as a result of Franklin Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration. Originally started as a Public Works Administration (PWA) project, the current courthouse was completed and dedicated in 1936 on the centennial of Warren County. The block and stone building was designed by architect Alan J. Saville in the popular Colonial Revival style that was popular among Virginia courthouses.
A plaque is mounted to the left of the doors in the recessed front entryway. It is inscribed:
