The newest vista at the Presidio of San Francisco is the Immigrant Point Overlook. It offers sweeping views from
Baker Beach to the
Marin Headlands and on a clear day,
Point Reyes National Seashore.
This scenic overlook is dedicated to those immigrants who may have entered this area through the Golden Gate. On top of the low stone wall at the edge of the overlook are carved the words of President Woodrow Wilson.
“We opened the gates to all the world and said, ‘Let all men who want to be free come to us and they will be welcome.’”
