This weathered mural is on the side of a building by a parking lot and has scenes of how the village on the Taunton River appeared around 1900.

In Taunton's Weir Village, there is a mural on the side of a building facing a parking lot. This mural is an historical depiction of the village as it appeared around 1900.

The mural is painted on an uneven wood surface. The painting is about 35 feet wide and 10 ft high. At the top-center is a gold banner and the text, "Weir Village c 1900." At the far right is the fire station, still standing, which was built in 1896. There is a horse drawn wagon passing by the side of a block of stores. Passing by the stores on the left side is a street car. By the fountain is horse drawn cart for McCabe Sand and Gravel. Further left is the Taunton River, which has a freight boat and barge, next to the building of the Staples Coal Co. Lime and Cement. Above this is an inserted scene of a locomotive coming into the station.

There is a bronze plaque that has information about the mural. It states:

"Historic Weir Village

There is an article in the Taunton Gazaette about the artist. At the time the article was written, John Barradas was still alive, in his 90s. The mural was painted in 1999, along with another mural on the Holy Rosary Church elsewhere. The artist lived locally and had a sign business.
