In Taunton, at the southeastern edge of the downtown section, is the Taunton City Hall, which as a dated stone over the main entrance.
The stone has the year, 1896, on it, in bold, raised letters. The city hall faces the intersection of U.S. 44 and Summer Street. The building has three stories, and the main material is stone. Columns are visible from the 2nd to the 3rd floor. Above the columns are small decorative features along the roofline.
To the right of the arch to the main entrance is a sign that states that the city hall is closed and provides addresses to the main departments. Thus, it appears that the future of this building is up in the air.
