Named for S.M. Emery, a local landowner, Emery is located on SD Highway 262 in Hanson County, South Dakota. Its population was 447 at the 2010 census.
The area was settled by German, Irish, English, Danish, and French Canadian immigrants and the town was incorporated on Jun 19, 1917.
