The One Pillar Pagoda is found in central Hanoi, on the tourist circuit. It dates to 1049, and was constructed soon after Hanoi became the capital of Vietnam, though I suspect not a great deal of the original structure remains.

At the Pagoda two white, lion statues flank the main entrance. These are small lions, suggesting that not a great deal of danger confronts the Pagoda. Easy to find as you walk towards the Ho Chi Minh Museum.
