This Parish Church in Maldon, All Saints', was built between the C13th and C15th and then remodelled in 1728. A restoration in 1858 was carried out on the south aisle and the spire. In 1867 the church was restored and reseated, then there was a further restoration in 1877.
The C19th stone font with some ornate carving is placed in the large open area at the west end of the north aisle. It is octagonal in form with ogee-shaped arches, quatrefoils and floral motifs, on an octagonal base with pillars and more floral motifs. The wooden cover is surmounted by iron scroll-work painted black with a gold cross at its apex. Unusually the font is not raised on a step for the officiating priest.
