A series of sculptures at roof level on the side walls of the National Museum and Gallery of Wales the featured sculpture is an allegorical sculpture called 'Regarding Guardians of Art' by Dhruva Mistry 1990
All the other sculptures on the Museum were done at the time the Museum was built 1914-1915.
" The figure has stylistic associations with the art of archaic Greece and India, as well as the work of Picasso. It combines elements from two of Mistry's smaller and earlier Reguarding Guardian sculptures which signify Fire and Earth and also Life and Death. The figure overlooking Park Place functions simultaneously as a fearsome adversary to its enemies and a benign 'guardian angel' to those in its care. The empty throne refers to the thrones of the Museum's other architectural sculptures and evokes its absent occupant: 'The Artist'."
