This marker honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s memory is on the corner of the Maryland State House, roughly between the statues of Chief Justice Roger Brooke Taney and Baron DeKalb, on the side corner between School Street and Francis Street. The marker is bronze with a picture of King etched into the background and various text overprinted across the plaque that reads:
"This tree is dedicated to the memory of
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
1929 - 1968
Freedom must ring from every mountainside ... and when this happens, all ... will be able to stand together ... and sing a new song ... Free at last, free at last, great God Almighty, we are free at last."
Below this quote is the information reading:
"Commencement Address
Morgan State College
June 2, 1958"
The last bit of infomation on the marker is the dedication date along the border of the entire frame which reads:
"Maryland State Archives 2007"
