Adrara San Rocco

Adrara San Rocco è localizzato nella parte più settentrionale della Valle del Guerna, caratterizzata dalla presenza di folti boschi e dalla profonda incisione del torrente omonimo sul fondovalle. In alcuni tratti si sono formate forre con numerosi salti d’acqua e il suggestivo fenomeno geologico delle “Tinelle”. Il manto forestale è composto soprattutto da specie che ricercano l’umidità, quali il Frassino, l’Acero, il Tasso, il Tiglio ed il Carpino bianco, mentre il sottobosco è ricco di felci. Nei corsi d’acqua e nelle vallette si possono rinvenire con facilità trote, tritoni e salamandre.

La contrada del “Forno”

Antico borgo medievale, presenta ancora alcune tracce di travertino su vecchie finestre a livello della strada. La sua toponomastica è a tutt'oggi ancora ignota benché si suppone proveniente da vecchie tradizioni legate alla produzione del pane casereccio in grandi quantità, per le famiglie numerose dell'epoca.
Adrara San Rocco annovera tra i suoi gioielli alcune belle chiesette, una delle quali è la piccola chiesa dell’Annunciata al “Forno” che ha avuto origine nella prima parte del secolo scorso.
I vecchi sentieri del paese sono costellati da edicole votive, molte delle quali recentemente restaurate e riportate ad originaria bellezza: “santelle” che sono il frutto della devozione e della tradizione popolare. Una di queste, dedicata al Santo delle cause impossibili San Giuda Taddeo (waypoint 05 “SGIUDA”), è situata a circa 30 metri dalla chiesetta, raggiungibile percorrendo il vialetto alla sinistra della chiesetta stessa.
La chiesetta, sempre aperta tutto l'anno grazie alla paziente collaborazione di volontari, è molto conosciuta da credenti e devoti locali, che non dimenticano mai di accendere una candela a Maria e dedicare una preghiera a San Giuda Taddeo, al quale ci si rivolge quando “le si è proprio tentate tutte” e si ha perso ogni speranza.
Nella piazzetta, su una casa del XVII secolo recentemente restaurata (waypoint 06 “FRESCO”), sono visibili due affreschi di epoche diverse, uno dei quali rappresentante San Rocco ed uno la Vergine col Bambino ed alcuni Santi.

Adrara San Rocco

Adrara San Rocco is located in the northern part of “Guerna valley”, that has thicket woods and is ticked by the homonym stream. In some places gorges have formed with numerous water jumps and the evocative geological phenomenom “Tinelle”. The forest mantle is mainly composed by species looking for humidity like Ash, Maple, Linden and the White Hornbeam, while the underwood is Ferns rich. Inside streams and near the little glens it's easy to find Trouts, Mermans and Salamanders.

The “Forno” (bakery) district

Ancient medieval hamlet, it still has signs of travertine on old windows borders at road level.
His toponymy is today, still, unknown, although is supposed to come from ancient traditions related to big quantity bread production for numerous families members.
Adrara San Rocco has got, among his jewels, some beautiful churches, one of them is the little church of “Announced” at “Forno” birthed in the first part of 19th century.
Old village paths are rich of votive shrines, most of which recently restored to original beauty: fruit of devotion in popolar traditions. One of them, dedicated to the Saint of the lost causes “San Giuda Taddeo” (waypoint 05 “SGIUDA”), is located about 30 mt from the church, reachable belong the path on the left.
The little church, all year opened thanks to volunteers patient cooperation, is well known by local prayerfuls, never forgetting to light a candle to Maria and dedicate a pray to San Giuda Taddeo, who helps when “everything has been tried” and all hopes have been lost.
In the little square, on a XVII century house recently restored (waypoint 06 “FRESCO”), two frescos are visible. They are of two different periods, one representing Saint Rocco and one the Virgin with the Baby and some Saints.
