This popular jazz club is just off the tourist nightlife area, Leidesplein.

It has live jazz every night and stays open to 3:00an on weekdays and 4:00am at the weekend. The doors open at 9:00pm and the music starts at 10:00pm.

According to its website the club attracts the best jazz masters in Europe and is popular with locals as well as tourists. (visit link)

Cafe Alto is situated at Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 115 and you shouldn’t miss it as it has a huge saxophone hanging from the wall.

With a name like Cafe Alto you might expect the saxophone on the wall would be an Alto Sax, but I am reliably informed that it is a Tenor Sax.
