There is a classic kolk pond just down the trail from Rowena Crest, Tom McCall Park. The kolk pond was formed by extremely strong swirling Missoula Ice Age Flood waters plucking boulders out of solid basalt bedrock and leaving behind a closed depression in the scabland surface.
