The gymnasium/auditorium was constructed for the local school district. The brick two-story building has an arch roof line and stone trim. It was designed by architect J. O. Parr. The building was constructed by the WPA using local labor which was very important as northwestern Oklahoma was particularly hard hit by the combination of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl and this project provided many needed jobs. The gym/auditorium hosted many school and community events over the years until 1962 when new facilities were built for the school system. At that time the building was given a second live as the American Legion Post #149. It served in that role until 2006 when the cost of the maintenance and repair of the building exceeded the financial mean of the post. The building then sat vacant for a few year until a non-profit corporation initiated efforts to preserve and repair the grand old building and provide it a new life.
