A memorial bell for Chicopee firefighters "who have answered their last alarm is on display in front of the fire department headquarters. The bell was cast by the Meneely Company of West Troy, NY in 1897.
The bell is suspended above a brick and concrete platform that contains a central plaque explaining the dedication which is flanked by four smaller plaques with the names former Chicopee firefighters.
The central plaque is inscribed:

CHICOPEE FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHO HAVE ANSWERED THEIR LAST ALARM
{FIRE DEPARTMENT EMBLEM}
APRIL 2002
