This marker to the 2nd & 3rd Kentucky Cavalry (CSA) is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. Kentucky was a border state during the American Civil War and units from Kentucky served in both the Union and Confederate Armies.
