Památnik 150 obetem rasové perzekuce byl odhalen 13.zárí 2004.
K realizaci byl vybrán návrh architektu Zdenka Trefila a Jana Zemánka. Dominantu památníku tvorí podstavec s prostorove ztvárnenou Davidovou hvezdou, která je zhotovena ze dvou vzájemne se prolínajících trojúhelníku - jeden je zhotoven ze železnicních pražcu symbolizujících strastiplnou cestu Zidu do Terezína.
Transport pripomíná i kolejnice zapuštená do zeme a opatrená názvy míst, ve kterých meziríctí Židé za války zemreli násilnou smrtí.
Hlavní soucástí památníku je deska z lešteného mramoru, na které jsou vytesána jména, data narození a umrtí všech 150 obetí holocaustu.
Stavba památníku prišla zhruba na 1 milion korun, vetšinu nákladu neslo mesto, 100 tisíc korun prispela Židovská náboženská obec v Ostrave.
Memorial to 150 victims of racial persecution was unveiled 13th September 2004.
The memorial was designed by the architects Zdenek Trefil and Jan Zemanek. The dominant feature of the memorial consists of a pedestal with a Star of David, which is made of two interconnected triangles - one is made from railway sleepers symbolizing the arduous journey of the Jews to Terezin.
Transport is also reminded by rail embedded into the ground with names of places where Jews from Valasske Mezirici died a violent death during the WWII.
The main part of the monument is a slab of polished marble, on which are carved the names, dates of birth and death of all 150 victims of the Holocaust.
Construction of the memorial cost about 1 million Czech crowns, mostly paid by City, 100 thousand crowns contributed by Jewish community in Ostrava.
