"Funder by the chamber of commerce , the Irvington monument was erected in the center of the historic 5 corner intersection in 1917 as a traffic control and to slow dwn the high speed automobiles at the time.

Remobved from the intersection in 1964 because it became a traffic hazard and was being hit regularly bypassing vehicles.

Relocated to the Irvington monument Plaza IN 1978, by the city and Irvington Business District as a focus for historic Irvington.

Renovated and relocated to its present location in February 1991 by the city of Fremont Redevelopment Agency and the Irvington Business Association."
