The Alva Armory was built in 1936 as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. The armory is constructed of red brick. The armory has two sections, the drill floor section with high ceilings and a two story shop and office section. The drill floor section has an arched roof with parapets and the shop/office section has a flat roof.

The building was used by the Oklahoma National Guard for more than 45 years. These units were deployed in World War II and the Korean War. The building is now used the the local school district as their school bus garage.
