Affectionately known as 'Swampy' (to westerners at least), Suvarnabhumi ("Ser-won-a-pum"), airport is now the main point of first contact for most tourists arriving in the Land of Smiles. Folk arrive here from all over the world to relax and enjoy the charm of 'Miracle Thailand' (the latest advertising slogan).
After the completing the smooth and efficient immigration process, one will exit the terminal. You can then try and get a taxi, which is easy, at a fair price, not so easy, or, take the bus. There is a not small bus terminal attached to the airport. Buses from here depart for Bangkok city, and for various destinations around the Kingdom, and to the border with Cambodia. Buses are not that frequent, but if you are at the airport, and are heading out of Bangkok, first take a look here before heading to one of the big three bus stations in the city. Also a train into the Big Mango.
