The following information comes from the plaque adjacent to this statue, which was partly translated for me, however, the Thai script is in a somewhat dated style, thus not overly easy to read or translate—so I am told. However...
These two people are two distinguished citizens, husband and wife, of the southern Thai city of Hat Yai, in the early 20th century. They emigrated from China, became successful in business, and donated money and land, to the city. There is more info, but I am unable to ascertain.
The statue is located to the east of the city centre, on a main road. Mrs Yon is seated, wearing what I would judge to be formal, though not overly so, garb of her era. Mr Yon is standing, and wearing a western style business suit. Both life-sized. The statues stand on a plinth, with is set back a little way from the street.
As with most public statues in Thailand this is also a shrine. Locals come by to pay their respects.
