Close to village Gürbulak at the Iranian borders in East Turkey you can find this interesting impact crater - the result of meteor fall in year 1892.

Meteor Crater is located 18 km from Mount Ararat, close (1 km) to the Iranian borders and village Gurbulak. Meteor Crater is 60 meters deep and has diamater 35 meters, but it is half-filled with soil and mud. The crater is located in the Turkish military area, but is possible to visit it. We passed inside without any problems in summer 2011 - sp try to ask soldiers at the entrance to the military area (they only will ask you for passports) and after check you can continue with car ca 2 km from main road D100/E80 to Iran.
