The castle was rebuilt from a Gothic fortress. The Countess Anna Camilla from Enkefurt started construction of the new Baroque castle in 1677. The castle was completed by Michael Oswald of Thun. In the years 1755 - 1759, during the reign of John Michael Althan, there was important rococo style reconstruction. Its author was probably a Prague architect Ignatius Johann Nepomuk Palliardi. The architectural development of the castle was ended partial Classical reconstruction in 1847.

Next to castle buildings are baroque buildings of the brewery and loosely designed park with an area about 10 ha. There was a French baroque garden on the site of park formerly. A remnants of the garden are still visible in the immediate vicinity of the castle.

At present the castle is used by the Department of Social Welfare.

Nedaleko rybníka se nachází zámek, který stojí na míste gotické tvrze pánu ze Svojšic. Roku 1677 zde hrabenka Anna Kamila z Enkefurtu zahájila stavbu nového rane barokního zámku, kterou pozdeji dokoncil Michael Osvald z Thunu. V letech 1755 - 1759 za vlády Michaela Jana z Althanu byla provedena významná rokoková prestavba. Jejím autorem byl pravdepodobne pražský architekt Ignác Jan Nepomuk Palliardi. Architektonický vývoj zámku ukoncila cástecná klasicistní prestavba z roku 1847.

Na vlastní zámek navazují barokní hospodárské budovy s pivovarem a volne rešený park o rozloze 10 ha. Dnešnímu parku predcházela barokní francouzská zahrada s pravidelným clenením, jejíž pozustatky jsou dodnes patrné v bezprostredním okolí zámku.

V soucasnosti je zámek využíván Ústavem sociální péce.
