Imro Weiner-Kral was painting in expressionism and Slovak "nadrealismus" (literally "overrealism", based on surrealism) styles. His lifesize statue made of bronze stands in the center of Považská Bystrica: the artist is shown in a frame symbolizing a house, holding a brush and concentrated at painting a picture.
Attached is a plaque with the artists quote:
Umenie je bojom proti smrti. My uz davno nebudeme, ked nase diela este budu rozpravat o nas a nasej dobe.
(The art is a fight against death. We won't be here anymore, while our artworks will still talk about us and our time)
