I was out geocaching with my geocaching buddy jstxnorth. We spotted this Cadastral Survey Marker returning from geocache GC190P3, "Back Door to Sentinel Rock," at Lake Thunderbird, placed by The Dept. of The Interior, Bureau of Land Management, a short distance from the cache. The marker is for AP (Angle Point) 266, T9N R1W (Township 9N Range 1W)as referenced to the Indian Meridian. The original survey was done in 1873 to mark boundaries and sections of the Pottowattomie Indian Reservation. This AP marker is in section 34, which is one of the points that marks the west boundary of the then Pottowattomie Indian Reservation. It has been surveyd a couple of times since 1873, 1967 and 1971 to verify the boundaries of the Norman Water Reservoir (Lake Thunderbird). Type of survey mark: Round 3 inch disk, weathered green (patina), in ground.

What indicators are near the mark to help people identify where it is located?:
The marker is located approx. 185 feet SW from geocache GC190P3, "Back Door to Sentinel Rock" at Lake Thunderbird, Norman, Cleveland, Oklahoma. There is a bare dirt hill that is crossed over in route to the cache, as the hill is crossed over, look down to the left, the marker is readily visible. The marker is located on bearing line of 210 from the cache and a bearing line of 030 to the cache.

One point of the Western Boundary of the Norman, Oklahoma Water Reservoir, (Lake Thunderbird) Public Land.
