The tower at the southern gate of Laufen has two large clocks at the front at the rear face of the tower. I could not find an accurate date, some sources say: 15th to 17th century.

The clock has a diameter of more than three meters. It is surrounded by an ornament in the shape of a laurel wreath. In the center there is a painted golden twelve-pointed star on red background. This clock only has one hand, minutes are not shown. The southern face of the tower has also a sundial mounted. Below there is the coat of arms of Bern. The tower is about 20 meters high and has a small bell tower on the roof.
