The SHARP Azimuth Mark (AZ) is one of a series of bench marks that were planted in 1953. The Station Mark and two Reference Marks, as well as a Radio Mast Tower, are all destroyed and could not be found. The Radio Mast tower on the summit of Weyerhaeuser Hill was taken down prior to 1976. Since the last recovery log from NGS, the three bench marks have also been destroyed. The only remaining bench mark that survives is the AZ Mark, found embedded in the concrete walk next to the north entrance of Fairhaven School, which is now closed and boarded up. The AZ Mark was found in good condition and one of the attached pictures show the AZ Mark pointing to Weyerhaeuser Hill, where the Radio Mast and the other bench marks once stood.
Azimuth Condition: Good

Your Directions:
Azimuth is easy to find by taking a left onto Weyerhaeuser Road from Greensprings Dr and pulling into the Fairhaven School parking lot. Proceed to the north entrance of the school (now closed) and you will see the AZ Mark embedded in concrete next to the left entrance door.
