"Das Schloss Hohenaschau ist ein aus einer Höhenburg entstandenes Schloss in der Gemeinde Aschau im Chiemgau. Über ca. sieben Jahrhunderte war es Sitz bedeutender adliger Dynastien und Zentrum der Herrschaft Hohenaschau. Ab dem letzten Drittel des 12. Jahrhunderts als mittelalterliche Ringburg auf einem Felsrücken im Priental entstanden, verlor die Burg im 18. Jahrhundert zunehmend an Bedeutung und verfiel. Nach dem Aussterben der letzten adligen Herrschaftsfamilie Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts, wechselte die Anlage mehrfach den Besitzer und wurde schließlich vom Industriellen Theodor Freiherr von Cramer-Klett als Landsitz seiner Familie erworben und vor allem von seinem Sohn zum Schloss umgestaltet. Heute befindet sich das Schloss im Eigentum der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und wird als Ferien- und Erholungsheim genutzt." wikipedia

For about seven centuries it was home to many leading aristocratic dynasties and center of the domain Hohenaschau. From the last third of the 12th Century as a medieval castle on a rocky ridge ring originated in Priental, the castle dilapidated in the 18th Century. After the extinction of the last aristocratic families in the mid-19th Century, the owners changed several times. Finally, in 1875 the industrialist Theodor von Cramer-Klett bought the castle as a country seat for his family. This was followed by extensive structural changes. Above all, his son Theodore Jr.. expanded and modernized the building from 1905 to 1908 considerably. Today the castle is owned by the Federal Republic of Germany and is used as a holiday and recreation center. wikipedia
