The Village of Wabamun describes their fire department as follows:
"Wabamun has a large contingent of Volunteer Firefighters, who also serve an area in Parkland County. The department utilizes fire hydrants through the Village and can draw upon 340,000 gallons of treated water for firefighting purposes. Firefighters can also draw upon the lake for water. Two fire pumpers, a tank truck, a rescue van, and in the summer a mini-pumper are available for firefighting. The insurance rating for Wabamun is the best rate given to municipalities with volunteer members.

While open water year round is unique, it also can cause concern in the winter. Wabamun has an ice rescue team and a full contingent of water rescue craft, including a 19' Boston Whaler, a 12' Zodiac and a Seadoo. This rescue equipment is available year round and also services other lakes and rivers in the area."
