Located in front of the Thomasville Genealogical, History & Fine Arts Library, this sundial has the dates 1893 - 1993 and the seal of the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in The State of Georgia. According to their web page, sundials were sent to local committees for placement. This site is across the street from the county courthouse. It is located on North Broad Street at the intersection with Jefferson Street.
The following is from the Georgia Colonial Dames web page entry for 1993 projects:
"A sundial, featuring the seal of the Georgia Society, the Franklinia Alatamaha (Society’s pin) and our Centennial dates on the face, on a fluted pedestal base, with acanthus leaf capitol, was commissioned and given to each Town Committee for local placement and dedication."
"The Seal of the Georgia Society is that of the Colonial Trustees of Georgia, encircled by the name of the Society. Two figures resting upon urns represent the rivers Savannah and Altamaha, the northeastern and southwestern borders of the colony."
