The sculpture looks like an amorphous blob (on a concrete pad) about to transform into something else, as though it is giving life to something new. Perhaps this was the reason for the name. The 'blob' leans into one direction very subtly as though it is tranforming. The top is very smooth and shiny which gives way to a rough bottom which looks pitted (intentionally). The bottom looks like the original form of the granite before the sculptors hands changed it into art. The sculpture is of black granite, and sculpted in 1968 by Isamu Noguchi, an American sculpture (1904 - 1988). The sculpture was sponsored by the Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum. There are a few other works here the sculpture garden by Noguchi as well.
