"Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa has been creating Big Brother friendships since 1970 and Big Sister friendships since 1973. We started out matching bigs with littles and have grown to include a variety of different programs that serve both boys and girls. We are proud of our achievements and continue to strive to be on the leading edge of the Big Brothers Big Sisters movement in Canada.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of children in our community. Our volunteers can enroll in a program that suits their lifestyle so the ensuing friendship will be meaningful and fun.

Tribuddy is a new program initiative for 2011. The program matches volunteer adult triathletes with youth between the ages of 9-15 to foster a positive and fun triathlon learning experience. The program was launched in the spring as a pilot project and will run through the summer, ending in September.
For the pilot project, 6 volunteers and 6 youth were recruited for participation. They will be meeting once a week for 2-4 hours where the activities are focused on running, swimming and biking. Once a month, they will meet in a group along with the Tribuddy organizers and Greg Kealey, coach of the Bytown Storm to get instruction on key aspects of training for a triathlon."
