The simple sandstone cross stands just north of the Tourist Information Centre in the centre of Kirkby Stephen. There is a three step broad base. The names are inscribed on metal plaques around the base of the cross. Only the broad steps are protecting this cross. There is no fence nor chained surround.
The WW2 part of the memorial only has the dates 1939 - 1945.
Some of the fallen from WW2 are:
JA Fawcett
D Gardner
WEJ Haffold
TG Jackson
The other names refer to the fallen during the first Great War. At the time of visit many names were obscured by wreaths.
