Located in Victoria Square in the middle of Adelaide this Plaque marks the reference point from which all distances and co'ordinates are measured from in South Australia. placed on the same day (a Few hundred years later) that Col Light hammered in his first peg when surveying the city of Adelaide. Very easy to find due to its size but hundreds of people would walk over it every day without a second thought. To get here easily just park your car in the suburbs catch a train or bus then a tram to Victoria Square. It is at the Northern most point of the Central Diamond of Victoria Square. When I first tried to publish this Waymark I was informed the co'ordinates were wrong. Hmm, I used the ones on the plaque. Placed in 1987 before inaccuracies were removed from Satellite navigation systems for all but the US government, unless you were using, God for bid it, GLONASS. Or is it that this was just placed using a different GCS and Projection to Google Earth! Hmmm. Any how The GPS in the Nikon AW100 camera that took the Panorama that you can see of Victoria Square recorded S 34deg 55' 38.44" E 138deg 35' 59.54", while G.E. changes the Secs to S 38.42" E 59.46". I suppose I should have taken the Garmin out of the bag for a 4th opinion but I had a bus to catch. I hope you enjoy finding this waymark and the others so very close by, in this nice park in the centre of our city.
