Verbindungsstraße zwischen den Bistümern Merseburg und Meißen, genutzt in kriegerischen Auseinandersetzungen der Jahrhunderte vom frühen Mittelalter bis zur Völkerschlacht. Die natürliche Eignung des Standortes wurde durch die Anlage von Erdwällen und Feldbefestigungen verstärkt.
