The Chuong Duc gate leads to the southwest part of the Imperial city, right to the To Mieu temple. Thought it is not the main gate, it is the most beautiful one as it underwent a complete restoration in 2003.
Under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), the Imperial City of Hue was the capital of the unified Vietnam.
Hue Citadel has been officially recognized by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in December 1993.
