Here is the text from the small plaque in front of the fish: "I'm Woody I was carved in the early 1900s in N. Calif. from a single redwood log by Enoch Kadashan. He drew from the Tlingit Indian woodcarving tradition of the great seagoing canoes and totem poles. I am a silver salmon and my kind once spawned in the creek behind here in uncountable numbers."
