Twenty years in the planning, five years in the building. $6.4 million dollars. 300 feet long, with a 5-foot raised pedestrian lane and two 8-foot bicycle/wheelchair lanes. Fully ADA complient, the ramps feature a 5% grade and is the longest unsupported pedestrian bridge in California.

Designed by Donald McDonald associates in association with OPAC engineers, the bridge opened in February of 2002. It connects the main residential neighborhoods of Berkeley that are on the East side of Interstate 80 with the many parks and bayshore recreational activites that are on the West side of the freeway.
