The official mascot of the Salt Lake Community College is the Bruin. This life-sized Bruin stands in at the north entrance to the Student Center at the Redwood Campus of SLCC. The bear has been carved out of a large orange colored rock, possibly sandstsone. On the back foot of the bear is inscribed 2011, but there is no plaque or any indication of who created the statue. Although, while I was taking pictures, an employee told me that she watched the artist spend countless hours carving this bear on location.
