The Newport Transporter Bridge is one of only three working suspension aerial ferries in the World. There are only eight of any type remaining aerial ferries in total of which the Newport bridge has the largest span of 196.8m.

The Coordinates were taken at the visitor centre on the western side of the bridge. (parking available for a few cars)

It cost just a pound for a car each way, and free for pedestrians.

The opening times of the bridge vary, but can be found on the Newport City web site. :-

"This Transporter Bridge has been both loved and loathed by many over its 106 year life, but the importance of this unusual structure cannot be denied and is recognized by the grade I listed building status conferred on it following its refurbishment in 1995.
Essentially the bridge is an aerial ferry and the bridge is today capable of carrying up to six light road vehicles and 120 pedestrians
across the river Usk."

With thanks to the Institute of Chartered Engineers,(ICE) Diagrams, & information, on their web site:-
