Im Zuge der königlich-sächsischen Triangulation in den Jahren 1862 bis 1890 wurde dieser Punkt 1865 als einer der 122 Festpunkte zweiter Ordnung auf dem 133 Meter hohen Wachberg bei Markranstädt in der Nähe Leipzigs errichtet. Er erhielt die Stationsnummer 112.
