"Der Watzmann ist das zentrale Bergmassiv der Berchtesgadener Alpen. Er liegt im Südosten Oberbayerns im Nationalpark Berchtesgaden in den Gemeinden Ramsau und Schönau am Königssee. Das bekannte Massiv hat seinen Kulminationspunkt in der Watzmann-Mittelspitze, die mit ihren 2.713 m ü. NN zugleich höchster Punkt des Berchtesgadener Landes ist. Auf der bekannten Ansicht von Berchtesgaden aus, mit dem Großen Watzmann, dem Hauptstock, rechts und dem Kleinen Watzmann (Hauptgipfel: Watzmannfrau, 2.307 m) zur Linken, dazwischen am Grat die Watzmannkinder, beruht die Watzmannsage. Die Watzmann-Ostwand gilt als höchste Wand der Ostalpen." wikipedia

"The Watzmann (Austro-Bavarian: Watzmo) is a mountain in the Bavarian Alps south of the village of Berchtesgaden. It is the third tallest in Germany, and the highest standing entirely on German land.
Three main peaks array on a N-S axis along a ridge on the mountain's taller western half: Hocheck (8698 ft), Mittelspitze (Middle Peak, 8901 ft) and Südspitze (South Peak, 8898 ft).
