This substantial clock stands near the town centre, on a traffic island, of the provincial capital of Uttardit, ~500kms north of Bangkok. A land of rice fields, light industry, and friendly people, who rarely see westerners wandering through their town snapping pictures.
The tower clock is ~5m high, with four clock faces, each working and telling the same time. Based upon a small plaque on the clock (in gallery), the clock was funded at least in part by Rotary (not uncommon in Thailand for Rotary to fund clocks). The clocks themselves are from Seiko.
Atop the tower is a Thai spirit house. This shows respect for the land and brings (hopefully) good luck to the town and people. The clock is immediately outside a tourist centre (no one was present in the tourist centre when I took a look inside). An attractive clock.
