Caldicot castle is a great attraction for schools in the area when exploring the history of the local area. One of the extra attractions is this giant chess set.
When we were there the schools had only just arrived and the chess set was all ready for use during their lunch break.
Caldicot Castle is open daily from 1st April (or Easter, whichever is earlier) to 31st October inclusive, from 11.00am to 5.00pm.
Since I wrote this the admission prices have changed as follows:
Admission is now FREE (2013), except on event days when charges will apply as advertised. See their web site: Caldicot Castle
